On Jan 9, three days after returning from CA, Courtney's water unexpectedly broke 6 weeks early. Simply put, we weren't prepared! Chris thought I peed my pants since there was water everywhere! We hurried off to the hospital. The labor wasn't too difficult as Chris may have heard me say, "It wasn't that bad!" Chris did seem a little worried that I was sleeping during active labor due to the medicine. After only a few hours and progressing quite quickly, Pierce Alan Brasher was born at 4:37 pm. He weighed 6 lbs even, but only spent a few minutes with us in the room.
He was taken to the ICU because his lungs weren't fully developed. He stayed there for 10 days and needed oxygen, chest tube, surfactant, and ventilator. He came home on oxygen and a monitor which scared me to death every time the alarm went off.

He came home on oxygen and a monitor which scared me to death every time the alarm went off. As Pierce was getting better, the hospital gave him a great souvenir, his famous green beenie. Once home, Pierce was on the oxygen for about 1 month.
During the pregnancy, I developed a pain in my leg. I knew it was more than a cramp which had been the diagnosis after two ultrasounds. Seven days after he was born, I was visiting him in the hospital and I had trouble walking. I got another ultrasound and was then rushed to the ER for blood clots. What else could go wrong, ahh! Thankfully, we got them under control and Pierce has been worth all the trouble.
We are definitely very lucky to have such an awesome baby. He sleeps really well and never cries (except when family is over, which ruins anyone's belief that he truly is an angel!). Pierce was blessed on April 13th and it great to have all the family here.
We are very excited to be parents and are looking forward to all the fun moments we are going to experience. Besides Pierce, Chris has been applying to MBA programs. He has been accepted to BYU and USC decision is still pending. We will have to move to go back to school so all the blood sweat and tears that went into Pierce's room will now be enjoyed by someone else.

What an adorable room! That will be hard to leave. I hope you choose BYU so you will still be around.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE your nursery! And I loved the update too! That picture of Pierce in his blessing outfit is too cute!
Courtney, I'm so glad you found my blog! Your little family is darling. Sorry for all the trouble you had during/after your pregnancy (I can totally relate). But I'm glad to see you are doing so well. Take care.
