Pierce update

This post is quite long and is more for our record. But if you are interested you are more then welcome to take a look:) Enjoy

This is the first post that I have really done on how much our little Pierce is growing up and the mile stones he has reached. I will need to back track so bare with me.

Pierce is

17 1/2 months

Pierce.....

• first smiled at 2 1/2 months
• was blessed on April 13, 2008
• always needed a burp rag since he would always spit up after he ate
• started tummy time around 3 months and did not like it at all
• reached for his feet around 5 months
• nursed till 6 months (tried to go longer but he wasn't having it) then switched to formula
  
• started eating baby rice cereal at 6 months, but then switched to oatmeal since the rice was too hard on his little tummy (Then we did infant veggies for a month before starting fruits so that he got use to the taste of veggies before yummy fruits)
• did not like sippy cups and still doesn't( never really got the hang of tilting them up so we used children's cups that had straws attached)
  
• learned to shake his head back and forth at 7 months (He learned this from daddy. This is the first action he copied. He also didn't recognize the connection with the word "no" and until much later.)
• started to roll and scoot across the floor at 8 months
• ate little snacks and crackers at 8 months (Then last week just started Gerber graduates. Probably could have started sooner but he would always gag. Crazy kid:)
• learned to army crawl and started sitting up on his own without falling over at 9 months
• got his first tooth at 10 months (Now he has all his front teeth in and has two molars coming in. One on top and one on bottom. While his teeth have been coming in he has never had a real problem. He acts like the same old Pierce so we lucked out big time:))
• said his first word at 11 months, "da da" (Then it was the following in order: dog, up, mom (never ma ma), hello, hi, uh-oh, and wow. (yes, "dog" & "up" came before me. thanks pierce:) and he just started saying "no" two days ago (Yikes! we don't know how we feel about this one yet:) ). Today was the first day he put two words together which was "no, dog!" (the dogs were barking and I usually am the one who says this phrase. Now I know we need to be careful what we say:). And we think he has also started to say Mo-Jo.)
• can sign: Milk, food, all done, claps hands, high fives (when he is in the mood), good night/bye and hello (waving)
• Learned to stand at 11 1/2 months
• started crawling around 11 months , walking around 13 months
• chipped the corner of his front right tooth on our coffee table right when they started to grow in. Now it look as if he has a gap between his two front teeth. sorry kiddo:(
  
• Just yesterday I let him try and eat with a spoon and he did pretty well. He got about 6 bites in all on his own
  

Pierce loves...

• feeding the dogs their food (Sometimes he tries it out for them first:).
• balls, cars/trucks
• throwing all his toys over his baby gates
• reading books and turning the pages
• any dog, big or small, nice or foaming at the mouth
• running on the couch back and forth until he falls off then does it all over again:)
• going on walks and running around
• playing on any lap-top or computer he can get his little hands on
• talking on our cell phones (He calls all of our family and friends without us knowing. Sorry everyone:)!)
• playing peek-a-boo with either our hands or blankets
• watching the laundry being cleaned in our front loading washer and pulling our cloths out of the dryer
  
• being chased
• sitting in the driver seat like dad
• play in all the cupboards and pull everything out
• play in the toilet if we forget to close the bathroom door. Yuck!
• Play and pull all the dirt out of our indoor plant and either put it all over the carpet or eat it
• go in the pantry and try to pull all the stuff off the shelves
• climb on all the furniture he can in the house including the top of the dinning room table
  
• his two silky/minky blankets that are his FAVORITE and he can't fall asleep without them
• his favorite show: The Wiggles (He sings "wiggle,wiggle,wiggle" when the jingle on the show starts. It's so cute!)
• his favorite movies: Leap Frog Letter Factory, used to like Baby Einstein
• use to not like baths when younger so we gave him baths in kitchen sink
• now LOVES baths in the bath tub and can't wait to get in (once he even fell in head first while I was giving the dogs a bath since he was leaning so far in to play with the water)
  

Pierce...

• stopped using his binky all on his own. (I was worried when I needed to take it away so that he wouldn't be hooked on it, but when he was a year old, he was sick for two weeks with a stuffy nose and could not breath with it. So he broke himself of the habit earlier than I would have wished since now he wants a bottle every time he falls asleep. Bummer. At lest he doesn't suck his thumb since we can't take that away:)
• loves to cuddle with mommy and daddy
  
• gives the best hugs and sometimes even pats you on the back as he hugs you
• just learned to give kisses (that aren't too slobbery:)
  
• hums to himself as he falls asleep (he learned to do this from my dad a.k.a Grandpa Pack)
• comes over to us and lays his head down on mom or dads back, chest/tummy if we are laying down (I love this one:)
• wears a bib since he drools all the time (When we leave it off, his shirt becomes completely soaked. He has gotten a little better the last few months but still needs improvement:))
• didn't cry at all until he was about 7months old (NO joke! But now screams every time he wakes up even if we are in the room. Poor kid! Does any one have any idea why?)
• laughed hysterically at Pixy as an infant, he also loved her kisses
• has already been on a plane for three different trips. First time was to New York at 6 months to visit my family, second was from Utah to Cali at 12 months to visit my family ( he also vomited all over me and the women next to us, I should post a whole entry on this one:), third time was at 17 months Cali to Utah for Chris's family reunion.
  

The last time we checked he was in the 95% in height and 35% in weight.


The longest he has been away from me is about three hours maybe once a week to run errands. More recently though I left him with my parents for three days to move from Utah to Cali for the summer. He is kind of a "mommas boy" since he is around me 24/7. How can you blame him:) I hope that doesn't come back and bite us in the future:)

Last but not least, Pierce is such a good soul and very easy going. Of course he complains at times but for the majority of the time he is pretty laid back and can keep himself well entertained. We are so lucky so have such a happy little boy who loves to giggle and makes us smile each and everyday. We love you Pierce and are so happy that Heavenly Father sent you to our home.
